Captain Cat's Invincible Plan to Get Cruising
What does it take to prepare to cruise long-term?
What does it take to prepare to cruise long-term?
And most importantly - what does it cost?
Naturally, Captain Cat is already in outstanding shape. Cardio good, reflexes excellent, fur reflective. I'm in peak condition to lounge behind the dodger while supervising my First Mate, Can Opener, as we cruise our yacht to infinity and beyond.
Just a few interim steps to take care of before we blast off. Like… getting a boat, getting it refitted and... getting the Can Opener ready for the challenge. Yes, indeed (apart from his sailing background), we start from square one.
And while we are making all that happen, we will be estimating, documenting, and analysing the costs involved every step of the way.

Fortunately, that is a skill the Can Opener does have in spades.
Here are the key areas in the plan to get the Can Opener ready for blue water cruising:
The Plan to Get Fit- done! The Plan to Get Social- done! The Plan to Get Trained- ongoing!- The Plan to Find a Boat that Fits - in progress!
- The Plan to Get a Boat
- The Plan to Refit the Boat
- The Plan to Blast Off
Will we achieve our goal to get long term blue water cruising by September 2014?
Even the best plans are revised continuously en route. But having a plan in the first place is the best way forward. This is our plan.
This is where it all begins.
